The Sage 50 Error Code 1608 is a very common error which occurs in Microsoft Windows operating system (Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8/ 8.1 and 10). It also occurs when you are trying to install ACT7 SQL Server 2008R2. You will receive the following error message:

“MsiGetProductInfo failed to retrieve ProductVersion for package with Product Code = ‘{GUID}’. Error code: 1608.”

When you encounter Error Code 1608, you will be unsuccessful while creating an “InstallDriver instance”. You should have Windows user permission otherwise you may get this error. There are various reasons which are responsible for this error i.e. issue with Windows registry or trouble with “installshield”.

Solution I:

  • You will have to run the install driver for IDriver.exe and Idriver2.exe, which is located in C:\ drive.
  • Now you will have to run “Appeon setup.exe” file.

Solution II:

  • Open “Control Panel”.
  • Click on systems > Advanced > Performance > Virtual Memory.
  • Make changes in the recommendation mentioned regarding initials and size.
  • Again go to Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Virtual Memory.
  • Make changes in initial as well as in maximum size to 0.
  • Restart your system.
  • Set the file back to your desired size.
  • This process compels it to re-create a page file.

  • Check whether IDriver is installed properly or not.
  • Check for the following file in your C:\ drive location, “directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8\Intel 32”.

  • If they are present, then run “regsvr32” on all the files available except, “_ISRES1033.dll and Idriver.exe” and run “idriver/regserver”.

Solution IV:

  • Click on “Windows Start” option.
  • Click on “Run” option.
  • When the Run dialog box appears, then in Search field, type “regedit”.
  • The “Windows Registry” window will open on your computer screen.
  • Browse to the location “HKEY_Classes_Root\Installer\UpgradeCodes” and left click on the “UpgradeCodes”
  • With the option of “File \ Export”, export the “UpgradeCodes”folder via Selected Branch export range.
  • Rename the UpgradeCodesfolder to UpgradeCodesOld.
  • You will have to install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 manually.
  • With the option of “File \ Import”, import the exported “UpgradeCodes”
  • Now you will have to launch the Sage ACT! Installation process.
